John Lawrence Pritchard (born 22 April 1948) is a Church of England bishop. He was the Bishop of Oxford from 2007 to 2014. He is in the Open Evangelical tradition. Early life Pritchard was born in Salford, Lancashire. He was educated at Arnold School, then an all-boys direct grant grammar school in Blackpool, Lancashire. He read jurisprudence at St Peter's College, Oxford, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1970; as per tradition, his BA was promoted to an Oxford Master of Arts (MA Oxon) in 1973. In 1970, Pritchard entered Ridley Hall, Cambridge, an Anglican theological college. He then studied theology and trained for ordination for the next two years. In 1972, he received a Certificate in Pastoral Theology. Ordained ministry Pritchard was ordained in the Church of England as a deacon in 1972 and as a priest in 1973. Sir John Michael Pritchard, (born Stanley Frederick Pritchard, 5 February 1921 – 5 December 1989) was an English conductor. He was known for his interpretations of Mozart operas and for his support of contemporary music. Life and career Pritchard was born in Walthamstow, Essex, to a musical family. His father, Albert Edward Pritchard, was a violinist with the London Symphony Orchestra. The young Pritchard was educated at the Monoux School and studied violin, piano, and conducting in Italy. Pritchard, as a conscientious objector, refused to serve in the Second World War, but was in any case unfit on medical grounds. In 1943 he took over the semi-professional Derby String Orchestra and was its principal conductor until 1951. John Vincent Pritchard (born 29 September 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender or midfielder for Glossop North End on dual registration from Witton Albion. Playing career Pritchard was in his youth a trainee by Manchester United, before joined in April 2012 to Oldham Athletic. John Pritchard (MP)
John Pritchard (1797 – 19 August 1891) was an English lawyer, banker and Conservative Party politician from Broseley (and later Stanmore), near Bridgnorth in Shropshire. After the death of his father in 1837, he gave up the law and with his brother George (died 1861) he worked at ''Vickers, Son & Pritchard'', the bank in which his father had been partner. The bank's offices were in Broseley and in the nearby town of Bridgnorth, and it was taken over in 1888 by Lloyds Bank. Pritchard was a close friend of the architect John Ruskin, who visited Pritchard at Broseley Hall, one of several properties inherited from his brother. Pritchard later moved to Stanmore Grove, another property inherited from his brother. He died in 1891, aged 94, having been a county magistrate and borough J.P.
